IN RE: COMMITTEE ON BAR ADMISSIONS CFN-86081 (2021)

Supreme Court of Louisiana.2021-08-06No. No. 2021-BA-00780

Summary

Holding. The joint petition for conditional admission was granted, and the petitioner was declared immediately eligible for conditional admission to practice law in Louisiana for a probationary period of 24 months, subject to compliance with specified consent agreement terms and conditions imposed by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.

The Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Bar Admissions granted a joint petition seeking conditional admission to the practice of law. The petitioner was found to meet the eligibility requirements for conditional admission and was authorized to practice subject to a 24-month probationary period beginning upon execution of a formal probation plan among the petitioner, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and a probation monitor. During probation, the petitioner must comply with all terms of a consent agreement with the Committee on Bar Admissions and any additional conditions imposed by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel. The court warned that failure to make good faith efforts to satisfy these conditions or any misconduct during the probationary period could result in termination of the conditional admission right or other disciplinary measures under the applicable lawyer disciplinary rules.

Opinion

Joint petition for conditional admission granted. See per curiam.

After reviewing the evidence and considering the law, we conclude petitioner is immediately eligible to be conditionally admitted to the practice of law in Louisiana, subject to a probationary period of twenty-four months. The probationary period shall commence from the date petitioner, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and the probation monitor execute a formal probation plan. During the probationary period, petitioner shall comply with all of the terms and conditions of the consent agreement executed by her with the Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Bar Admissions, and such other conditions as may be imposed upon her by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel. Should petitioner fail to make a good faith effort to satisfy these conditions, or should she commit any misconduct during the period of probation, her conditional right to practice may be terminated or she may be subjected to other discipline pursuant to the Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement.
