Opinion

Writ application denied.

Given the historical procedural delays that have already plagued this matter, the court and counsel involved are reminded of their ethical duties relating to litigation. The Louisiana Code of Judicial Conduct requires judges to “dispose of all judicial matters promptly, efficiently and fairly.” La. Code of Jud. Conduct, Canon 3(A)(7). Similarly, counsel has a responsibility to reasonably “expedite litigation” to honor the use of judicial resources, respect the rights and interests of clients and victims, and maintain candor to the tribunal. See Louisiana Rules of Professional Conduct, Rules 3.2, 3.3. I hope this matter will be resolved “promptly, efficiently and fairly,” in accordance with this Courts prior order instructing the trial court to select a trial date in the year 2023.

Crichton, J., additionally concurs and assigns reasons.
