ATTORNEY DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDING

On September 7, 2022, respondent was suspended from the practice of law for three years, retroactive to January 10, 2020, the date of his interim suspension. Thereafter, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) commenced an investigation into allegations that respondent engaged in the unauthorized practice of law following his suspension. Prior to the filing of formal charges, respondent and the ODC submitted a joint petition for consent discipline in which respondent admitted that he violated Rules 5.5(a) and 8.4(c) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Having reviewed the petition,

IT IS ORDERED that the Petition for Consent Discipline be accepted and that John C. Alexander, Louisiana Bar Roll number 26591, be suspended from the practice of law for a period of one year.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of finality of this courts judgment until paid.

PER CURIAM

Weimer, C.J., dissents and would reject the proposed discipline as too lenient.

Crain, J., dissents and would reject the proposed discipline as too lenient.
