The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (“ODC”) commenced an investigation into allegations that respondent failed to obtain his clients’ written informed consent to limit the scope of his representation with his co-counsel in a contingency fee agreement, failed to communicate with his clients over a period of several months, and failed to take reasonable steps to protect his clients’ interests upon termination of the representations. Respondent and the ODC submitted a joint petition for consent discipline, in which respondent acknowledged that his conduct violated Rules 1.2(c), 1.4, and 1.16(d) of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Having reviewed the petition,
IT IS ORDERED that the Petition for Consent Discipline be accepted and that Leo Caillier, III, Louisiana Bar Roll number 36158, be publicly reprimanded. It is further ordered that respondent shall complete the next available session of the Louisiana State Bar Associations Ethics School.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that all costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, § 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of finality of this courts judgment until paid.
