Opinion

majority opinion

Applying For Supervisory and/or Remedial Writs, Parish of St. Tammany, City Court of Slidell Juvenile Division, No. 13 JS 2327; to the Court of Appeal, First Circuit, No. 2013 CM 1843. 11Writ denied.

HUGHES, J., would grant and assigns reasons.

dissent opinion

HUGHES, J.,

dissenting.

hi am greatly troubled by such sharp practice that would deny these maternal grandparents a voice in the well-being of their handicapped grandchild. While the grandparents might well be not suitable as a placement for the child, to deny them any participation whatsoever in the process to determine the child’s best interest is needlessly heartless. I would therefore grant the writ to allow them to intervene in these proceedings.
